Return to Sender? We’ll Just Deliver It to the Trustees.

When you send a formal legal notice to an organisation, you’d expect them to receive it, log it, and respond appropriately. Instead, The Recruitment Junction chose to mark it Return to Sender and hope it would disappear into the void.

That tactic does not work here. If a letter addressed to a charity board is sent back to sender, then the next logical step is obvious: it gets sent directly to the trustees themselves. They hold the legal duties. They carry the governance responsibilities. And they do not get to hide behind postal games.

That’s exactly what is happening now. Trustees cannot avoid their obligations by letting others intercept correspondence on their behalf. The law is clear: charity trustees are accountable, both individually and collectively, for ensuring compliance with the Equality Act, GDPR, and Charity Commission standards.

Nigel Wright Group Involved

One of the trustees of The Recruitment Junction also happens to be a Group Executive Director at Nigel Wright Group. As such, Nigel Wright Group has now been asked to provide a valid delivery route for pre-action correspondence intended for that executive.

The reasoning is simple. If legal documents impact an individual in their capacity as a trustee, they must receive them directly. Returning them to sender does not make the issue go away – it only escalates it further up the chain, where it cannot be ignored.

Accountability Cannot Be Outsourced

Organisations may try to shield their executives and trustees from uncomfortable correspondence, but that is not how accountability works. A returned envelope is not a resolution. It is a delay tactic – one that only makes the eventual outcome more serious.

Our approach is straightforward: if mailrooms and administrators block delivery, we will simply take it to the individuals who hold the responsibilities. That means trustees, executives, and boards will receive correspondence personally, and the record will show every attempt that was made beforehand.

Accountability does not vanish with a stamp that says Return to Sender. It only becomes sharper and more personal.
