Non cliche reasons to donate

Independence and dignity

Small grants for wheelchairs, communication devices, and home adaptations flip daily life from exhausting to possible.

Early help saves money later

Timely therapy, advocacy at assessments, and specialist education reduce crises that cost far more down the line.

Rights with teeth

Disabled People’s Organisations push systems to comply with the law. Your donation pays for real casework and policy wins.

Local multiplier

Charities hire locally, buy locally, and train volunteers. Your gift supports people and the local economy at the same time.

Pick a cause

Start with a national you trust, then look for a local specialist or a Disabled People’s Organisation. Donate on the official page.

Sensory impairment

  • RNIB — blind and partially sighted people.
  • RNID — deafness, hearing loss, tinnitus.
  • Sense — complex disabilities and deafblind support.

Communication access

  • NRCPD — check registered BSL interpreters and other professionals.

Regulators and verification

Check the charity number and inspect care quality where relevant.

How to give like a pro

  • Use official pages to avoid brokers. Donate through the charity website or a known platform they link.
  • Gift Aid adds 25 percent if you pay UK tax. Tick the box if eligible.
  • Ring fence your gift if you want impact on equipment, advocacy, or a local service. Say so in the note.
  • Monthly for running costs, one off for big kit. Both matter.
  • Match funding doubles impact. Ask your employer or search the charity’s match offers.

Make it real

Pick one national and one local. Set a small monthly you will not notice. Share the link with one person who trusts your judgment.
